In Epsiode 11, Matt starts things off with a bang as he previews for us the brand new warcraft novel STORMRAGE by Richard Knaak! Later on, Michael and Brent begin a Roundtable discussion on RP etiquette for established or veteran role players and Jaero adds in how the use ice-breakers can liven up role play by adding new players. The discussion ends with Harper starting the beginnings a future topic, being Storytellers or DMs in role play.

We conclude with Jaero the Grim, who joins us on the podcast from the earthen.ning.com website! He talks about how this type of website management system can be an invaluable tool in organizing role-playing events, inspiring character development with online journals, and helping the role play community stay connected… its sort of like having facebook for your character…. and its useful for not just one server.

You can catch the cast’s audio articles and guides featuring lore and a variety of other role playing tips and tricks later in the week.

Lot’s of great information and inspiration this episode, so kick back, grab your mug, and enjoy the show.

Hey guys! Thanks for the shout out for both the Mug and Sandvich and for Templars! Us here in the Templars were very happy to hear you talking about us a little bit.

  4. Bricu Bricu says:

I’m finally getting around to listening to the Episode 10 and 11. Fantastic job everyone! When I was a guest a few months ago, we did talk about “rules for newbies.” I do think that there should be “rules for old farts” as well. For the most part, I think that “established” RPers have to model appropriate behavior: Saying hello to new people and clarifying that the “aggressive or nasty” behavior that our characters sometimes exemplify is not a personal attack on another player.

At the same time, I’m not sure that being selective of who you want to RP with is a bad thing. Given that I think RP is about collaborative story telling, I want to work with people who I can work with. I do not want to work with someone who tells the same stories. I do not want to work with someone who wants to have their characters always want to be heroes/villains/important. I want to work with folks who get story construction, who can take constructive criticism and challenge me to grow as a story teller.

That being said, I don’t feel the need to be a jerk to people who are new to Feathermoon, RP or to our RP Circle.

I think this is an extremely important topic and it can spawn a lot of fantastic discussion. You all did a fine job in addressing it!
