While working to finish episode 003 and 004 of our Hearthstone Tavern Role-Play podcast, I saw that World of Warcraft is offering steins! Recently, Blizzard also provided a real sword crafted as Frostmourne to the winner of the Global Creative Writing Contest.
This interesting trend to include items you might find at a Ren Faire intrigues me. Is Blizzard finally discovering that their long term community is the AD&D-RP-Ren Faire people?
It is a small attempt that Blizzard is finally including more than books, shirts, and cards in their online store. However, if we had it our way this is what we would like to see in the Blizzard store.
Dear Blizzard, at Blizzcon please have an open market, complete with the market-with-awning-gazebo look, and make available (also in the online store):
- Murky Plushies (and other plushy versions of in-game pets, including plushy Willy!)
- Plushies from other games (Diablo?)
- Replicas of other weapons & staves (downsized of course for RL, and real such as the ones you would see at a Ren Faire)
- Tabards of all the various factions (why not?) Even be able to order guild ones from the game.
- Buttons of the various factions (so people can save some $)
- A food court specializing in the titles of dishes from the recipes in-game.
- A library which actually sells the Warcraft books (all of them should be available).
- A game boutique (which actually sells all the available Blizzard games. Went to Blizzcon one year and was interested in Starcraft. But you couldn’t even buy a copy there.)
- Prints! We want prints of covers of manga, comics, and other artwork. Specifically classes and character archetypes.
- Toys! We want replica toys such as blow up Frostmournes for the kids (in all of us)!
- Bags! If I can buy a soft Yoda back pack, I want to see a Murloc backpack and a Netherweave backpack with the tag “100% Netherweave” (a spoof of course, but woo hoo).
- RINGS and other jewelry! We want real silver and gold crafted rings in various styles that replicate the rings in-game.
Just my short list, I am sure others have ideas.

Probably copyright issues, but prints of comics submitted for the comic contest or fan art would be neat… some of them are absolutely beautiful.
I absolutely love the fanart. There are some tremendously talented people out there.
